IBSR  -  Integrated Behavioral Stress Reduction

IBSR is a therapeutic process that when employed allows the client to safely, gradually release stress long held where it lives in the inner somatic workings of each individual body...

IBSR allows for the Autonomic Nervous System to be reset and discharge the stress experienced in our everyday life as well as the stress that is experienced during traumatic events.

IBSR is a non-verbal, pre-verbal somatic/physical release process.

IBSR and Somatic Psychology holds that the body has memory well before the cognitive/emotional process begins - either through the developmental years or through out our lives.....The Body experiences trauma well before we begin to think and feel.

IBSR can safely treat pre-verbal trauma and developmental trauma by creating a safe, controlled environment where a client can, through the body (Somatically,) re-experience the trauma and discharge this pent up energy. During times of perceived or real threats tremendous amounts of energy are mobilized and get "locked down". This energy can be discharged through IBSR in a safe, natural way.. The body holds pain and when given the opportunity will naturally and safely discharge this pain through the somatic experience.

IBSR is not a cognitive, talk therapy method. In fact, quite the opposite.  The client will not need to discuss or re-live the traumatic events, memories or emotions...

Through the IBSR process the client will have a physical experience that includes shaking, tremors, involuntary movement, water welling in the eyes, spontaneous laughter, body movements that are completely safe to experience.....

The Acute Stress Response deals with both healthy and unhealthy stress in a natural and automatic way.  IBSR creates the space to debrief and organically, naturally release this stress....

You are completely in charge of this process and can shut the process down at any point. There are no side effects or contraindications for this therapeutic method.

p>>IBSR is suitable to treat trauma, grief, addition and substance abuse issues, phobias, depression, eating disorders and physical and emotional stress.  IBSR enhances the effectiveness of CBT, MBCBT and Yoga Therapies....

The continued practice of the somatic release will keep stress from building up in the body.
